Ellmaustein in Fuschl

Short route with a fantastic view over Lake Fuschl

If you want to stand on a summit in a short time and have a very beautiful view of Lake Fuschl, this route is just right. The hike is also suitable for children due to its short length. When you get off at Fuschl town center, you see the steep and rocky Ellmaustein on the right from this side. The hike begins leisurely on an asphalt road in the Ellmautal before it goes a bit steeper and rockier up the mountain. But not for long and you are already on the ridge where it continues on beautiful forest and root paths to the Lake Fuschl viewpoint. Particularly beautiful; in the morning the sun rays create a fairytale forest – or you watch the sunset over the lake in the evening. From the summit, you see the town of Fuschl, at the left end of the lake Fuschl Castle, to the left of it the Filbling, and to the right of the lake the Frauenkopf and the Schober, which could be the next, somewhat higher hiking destinations.

Directions

From the bus stop, you see the Ellmaustein on the right side. The path goes back a short way into Felderstraße, to an underpass of the federal road, then left and again right onto the field path to the next settlement. There go all the way forward to Steinbachstraße, then left and again right into Ellmaustraße. Go another 400 m further into Ellmautal before a narrow path branches off steeply up the mountain to the left. Follow this to the summit. On the way back, 100 m above the valley, don’t forget to turn off onto the small forest path again.
