On hidden routes from Seekirchen to Eugendorf

ON THE PILGRIMAGE ROUTE FROM SEEKIRCHEN TO EUGENDORF, YOU COME ACROSS MORE CHURCHES, CHAPELS, AND IMAGE PILLARS THAN DIRECTION SIGNS. STILL AN ENRICHMENT – NOT ONLY FOR ‘SCOUTS’.

The connection from Seekirchen to the town of Eugendorf, located four kilometers as the crow flies, sounds simple. The hiking route via Mühlberg, which follows old pilgrimage routes, is not that simple, but it is still appealing. It almost seems as if pilgrimage paths have something mysterious about them, as if they deliberately do not always choose the direct route. Whatever the case, maybe this beautiful connection will be awakened from its sleeping beauty slumber and provided with a few necessary marking points and yellow signs. There are not that many of them, but with some confidence and salzburg-erfahren.at on your phone, this little adventure will surely succeed.

Directions

From Seekirchen station, the path leads along Bahnhofstraße in 10 minutes to the town center of Seekirchen. The namesake church traces its origins back to the regional saint Rupert of Worms, who arrived at this location in the year 696. The route follows the main street on the left past the shopping center, crosses the Fischach, and together with the pilgrimage route, turns left onto Pfaffenbühel. After the short ascent, the marked Rupert pilgrimage route turns left at the chapel and leads through the forest to a junction. To the right, it is 700 meters to the small, Gothic Leonhards Church on Mühlberg, but our route remains in the forest and follows the Rupert route, which runs consistently straight ahead. After 1.5 km, the forest path meets a wider forest road and follows it first to the left, then to the right. The terrain opens up, with a beautiful view of the Schafberg it goes slightly downhill to a chapel and then sharply right to a farm group. The path continues straight along the ridge; at the last building, a tractor path begins, which crosses the Eugendorf stream and, turning right, runs along it into a house driveway. Past the Union sports ground, the last section leads under the state road into the old town center of Eugendorf, where the prominently visible parish church stands. Opposite, in front of the municipal office, is the bus stop.
