From Kuchl to St. Koloman
On rarely frequented but particularly charming paths from the Salzach valley to the high-altitude village of St. Koloman.
The further the route moves away from the lively town of Kuchl, the more solitary the hike becomes. Passing the very successful forestry school and heading towards the historic Georgenberg, a quiet and steep phase begins after crossing the valley meadow. The forest path soon crosses the route of the hotly debated 380 kV high-voltage line. But it is exactly here at this sensitive point that hikers encounter a section lovingly designed with hearts, ladybugs, and paintings, almost pushing the huge pylons into the background. Shortly afterwards, the change from Kuchl into the municipality of St. Koloman is clearly visible by the now missing trail markings. But orientation is not difficult, and towards the end, just before St. Koloman, the wonderful dialect Way of the Cross created by local artists marks the finale of an extraordinary hike. Directions
From Kuchl station or from the bus stop Kuchl Marktstraße, the route passes the municipal office (tourist office) and follows the Leisenweg for 1.5 km to the horse farm in front of Georgenberg. Turning right, the Berglweg runs another 500 meters at the foot of the conglomerate rock and then turns left into Georgenbergstraße. Shortly afterwards, the marked path 18 (St. Koloman) turns left, crosses the meadow, and then climbs steeply through the forest. For a short distance, the route follows the power line route but then continues on the right-hand side. The path, which was exemplary marked up to that point, now has to manage without markings and meets the Lanzenstraße at the height of the Sillbauernkapelle. Turning left, it goes along this road through the district Oberlangenberg for 1.5 km to a fork. Now right onto Brunaustraße to the junction turning left into Leonhards-Pilgerweg and continuing via Thalheimweg onto the passing dialect Way of the Cross to St. Koloman. The bus stop St. Koloman village center is located opposite the "Tauglerei".              Â
