The Katschberg Advent Trail in St. Michael
CHRISTMAS FAIRY TALE BETWEEN CARINTHIA AND SALZBURGER LAND
Escape the city and experience Christmas like from a picture book? In the holiday region Katschberg at 1,750 meters altitude, exactly that awaits you. How about experiencing a deeply snow-covered fairy tale landscape, a horse-drawn sleigh ride, the sweet scent of traditional Christmas pastries, and cheerfully crackling logs in the fireplace? The deep sound of the alphorn and the festive songs of the Christmas choirs naturally belong as well. And that’s not all …
Want to bet that your children’s eyes will shine in a contest with the lanterns and torches? The Katschberg Advent Trail invites you to a circular hike, where the lovingly designed themed world invites contemplation. Carefully restored hay barns and rustic huts transport you to a romantic Alpine world, like the one known only from stories. The teddy bear workshop, where you can make your own teddy with the help of angels, a petting zoo with cute donkeys, sheep, and goats, as well as a Christ Child workshop, are naturally not to be missed. Winter hiking can work up quite an appetite. For a small snack, there are freshly roasted chestnuts, hot baked potatoes, and tea along the way. Those who want to end the evening in style take the shuttle bus and enjoy dinner with seasonal delicacies such as goose and mulled wine at the Alpengasthof Bacher.
