Golling – Salzachöfen – Höhenwanderweg Pass Lueg

The natural monument Salzachöfen is one of the most spectacular water locations in the state of Salzburg. Nowhere else do you feel the power of the Salzach in such a way as it breaks through the rock walls with a loud roar. It is definitely worth combining this spectacle with the Höhenweg at Pass Lueg and recharging your strength in the lush nature.

From the bus stop we walk to the entrance of Salzachöfen, where we start right away with the most spectacular part through the lowest wild river section. Our path leads through imposing rock walls. They feature countless impressive erosion potholes, formed by the power and whirlpools of the water. One thing is for sure: even in midsummer it is pleasantly cool here.

After visiting the viewpoints and the “cathedral,” our path continues: the Höhenweg branches off shortly before the stairs back to the entrance, turning left. Up wooden stairs and then for a while along somewhat exposed paths in the forest above the gorge. The hike goes through impressive, lush nature and brings us back to the starting point in a loop.
