A winter day in Krispl

Cross-country skiing, skiing, tobogganing, and winter hiking – the selection of winter delights is huge around the small village of Krispl.

Certainly, there are larger ski areas, but the family-friendly offering here in Krispl at 926 m above sea level scores with all important sports, is also inexpensive, never overcrowded, and there is no rush. Countless children from near and far have learned to ski on the 600 m long drag lift or have dashed boldly down the extra-long toboggan slope at the junction to Zillreith over the north slope. Opposite, on the other side of the road, 4 minutes from the Krispl Hinterhof bus stop, there is a signposted entry point to the easiest cross-country trail, along which winter hikers can also stroll. In total, 7 km of tracks, partly of medium difficulty, are available. The best news at the end: the frequency of the bus for the journey has been significantly increased; on weekdays a bus departs hourly from Hallein station to Krispl, on Sundays and holidays every 2 hours.

Directions

The romantic, 3 km long winter hiking trail begins at the distinctive Krisplstein chapel directly opposite the Krispl village center bus stop and mainly follows the summer trail marking 72 (Neureitötz circular route). To the left of the chapel and past the natural monument, the path leads into an enchanting fir forest. At a fork, a variant branches off to the left; the somewhat more demanding route during low snow conditions continues to follow summer trail 72. Before a clearing, the two paths meet again, cross the meadow in a left curve, and reach the beautiful farm of the Moltinger family. Along the driveway, it goes back to the main road and along this to Krispl. Alternatively, a longer variant first follows the right-branching cross-country trail and then meets the main road opposite the toboggan slope. The Krispl Hinterhof bus stop is 300 m towards the village of Krispl.
