Directions

From the valley station of the Donnerkogelbahn, follow a forest road that can be shortened through the woods. Where the path first touches open pasture areas, the marked hut trail (path 630) branches off to the right and leads over the meadow. The wide alpine meadows leave the forest behind and you can finally admire the impressive mountain panorama. You reach the Stuhlalm. Behind the alpine hut, the path (631) leads left at the foot of the mountain through dense dwarf pines further up to the Tiefenkarriedel. The cirque is bypassed on the right side and in the shadow of the mighty Angerstein, you reach a notch. A narrow passage here opens the access to the Donnerkogel ridge. The path to the Strichkogel continues upwards. First, you pass through some irritating dwarf pines before reaching the sunny summit slope. The transition from the fore summit to the main summit is airy and requires sure-footedness.
