Like on rails to Strobl
FROM THE PLACE ABERSEE ON LAKE WOLFGANG AND THROUGH THE BLINKLINGMOOS FOLLOWING THE LEGENDARY SALZKAMMERGUT RAILWAY TRACKS TO STROBL.
Between 1893 and 1957, the Salzkammergut railway ran between the city of Salzburg and Bad Ischl. Today, transport planners would probably be glad if the railway track were still available. For generous connection to the rail network, the train has already left, but the railway embankment still exists in sections and serves as a hiking and cycling path. A particularly attractive route runs through the protected Blinklingmoos. The hike on well-maintained paths is recommended at any time of year and in any weather condition. Even in winter, the trip is worthwhile, especially during Advent in connection with a Christmas market visit. The Wolfgangsee shipping also ensures good connections between the places during the quiet season.

Directions
From the bus stop St. Gilgen Abersee, we cross the adjoining bridge over the Zinkenbach and turn left 100 meters later into Waldstraße. The dead-end street passes through the settlement, then continues on a forest path (path 15). The route turns right onto a driveway (path 12 „Lakeside path to Strobl“), shortly after the ferry dock Gschwendt appears. Path 12 leaves the lakeshore and bends left onto the former railway track of the Salzkammergut railway, which now serves as a very popular cycling route. Therefore, it is advisable to use the parallel meadow path, which is reserved for pedestrians only. Passing the historic Pilznergut, already mentioned in the 14th century, the route continues first through Gschwendt and then through the Blinklingmoos. At selected spots there is access to the lake, of course also at the paid public bathing area. Path 12 again leads away from the shore, bypasses the Marienhof peninsula, and reaches the town area of Strobl passing by the public swimming pool. The bus station can be reached from the pretty center in 10 minutes via Ischler and Bahnstraße.
