Ski tour from Gaißau to Hintersee

On silent skins from the chairlift valley station in Gaißau over the Anzenberg to the valley station in Hintersee.

Rarely can the (temporarily) closed ski circuit Gaißau – Hintersee be experienced as accurately as with this valley-crossing ski tour. A pleasurable swinging and gliding in the truest sense of the word! This is made possible by an ideal bus offer: both the starting point at the Gaißau valley station and the end point at the valley station in Hintersee are served hourly on weekdays. Thus, an interesting route could emerge for public transport users that combines the advantage of the sunny ascent with the relatively snow-safe but shaded descent to the Hintersee valley station. There is also a bonus of over 130 additional meters of descent, because the endpoint Hintersee lies lower than the starting point. The descent to Hintersee is steeper than the one on the south side, but it has alternative routes and is also groomed.

Directions

From the last stop of line 450 in front of the Spielbergbahn valley station in Gaißau, it initially continues with skis carried for 10 minutes along the access road, turning right once before the bridge to the valley station of the abandoned curve lift. Past the Schmittenstüberl inn, the track follows without orientation problems for the next 45 minutes always along the moderately ascending, wide ski run to the top station of the curve lift. A few meters below, the route turns left, crosses a long saddle, and heads towards the inconspicuous Anzenberg height (1469 m). There is the top station of the Anzenbergalm lift and a simple wooden cross to the left. The marked descent towards Hintersee turns off to the left past the picturesque Anzenberg huts and then transitions into the north-facing, increasingly steeper slope. This can be bypassed at least in sections by a forest road. The bus stop “Hintersee valley station Dreiersesselbahn” is located 100 m away at the junction of the parking lot access road.
