On the Way of St. James from Eugendorf to Kasern
An all-weather suitable hike entirely dedicated to the scallop shell.
It doesn’t have to be the entire Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela in Spain; for a first taste, a short section from Eugendorf via Hallwang towards the city of Salzburg is quite suitable. In this case, the route ends at the Kasern train stop, but those who get hooked could, of course, also follow the Way of St. James, well marked with the blue-yellow shell, further to Hinterreit near Großgmain. At least this is what the pilgrim plan of the Salzburg Way of St. James foresees, dividing the stages into 20 to 30 km long sections. The gently flowing effect should already set in on this short stage, especially since the path mostly leads slightly downhill. The continuously paved route is suitable for any weather, cleared in winter, and suitable for strollers.

Directions
The starting point is the Eugendorf town center stop opposite the baroque St. Martin's Church, first mentioned in 790. The route follows Kirchenstraße 100 m south and then turns right into Konrad-Seyde-Straße. This leads past the Konradinum into the open hilly landscape; the next destination is the distinctive wayside cross on the hilltop. Gently downhill again, the marked Way of St. James meets a fork and now follows Einleitenweg to Hallwang. The parish church in Hallwang is also dedicated to St. Martin; a bronze sculpture recalls the popular benefactor as he shares his cloak with a freezing beggar. Along Kirchenstraße, the path leads into a hollow and continues straight ahead on the slightly ascending Bergstraße. Passing a beverage market, a view soon opens up to the city of Salzburg, to Maria Plain, and to the Kasern train stop.
