Immerse yourself in the world of past centuries! The Salzburg Open-Air Museum brings history to life – a perfect destination for young and old, in any weather. Here, visitors experience firsthand how life, work, and economy once functioned. More than 100 originally preserved rural buildings from six centuries tell their stories and transport you to a long-gone era.

Whether you are interested in historical craftsmanship, traditional construction methods, or everyday life in the past – there is much to discover on the extensive museum grounds. The houses, furnished according to historical models, impressively showcase how “building, living, and economic activities” have evolved over the centuries. From the simple smoke kitchen to the stately farmer’s parlor, from the old smithy to the traditional grain mill – each building holds fascinating details from the past.
