Church of Hinterthal
The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to the patron saint Trinity belongs to the deanery of Saalfelden in the archdiocese of Salzburg.
The “Dreifaltigkeitskirche” (Trinity Church) is located at the very end of the village, directly behind it are high mountains and massive rock faces. The church dates from 1678 and was extended again in the middle of the 18th century. The altar in the interior also dates from 1740. The pictures of the Way of the Cross on the wall of the church were painted by the painter Wilhelm Kaufmann, who painted the pictures during the restoration of the church in the early 1960s. Somewhat unusual, but not unsuitable. In front of the church there is a beautiful fountain, which with its three basins takes up the theme of the Trinity.
