The Matrashaus is one of the highest mountain huts in the Alps. The hut stands at 2941m directly on the summit of the Hochkönig. The owner of the Franz-Eduard-Matras Haus is the Austrian Tourist Club (ÖTK). Due to its unique location, you have a view of over 200 three thousand meter peaks from the Matras House. The view reaches from the Totes Gebirge over the Großglockner to the Zugspitze. Famous are the sunrise and sunset at the Matrashaus. Since all accesses from the valley are very wide, the hut is supplied exclusively by helicopter.
The Matrashaus is open daily from mid-June to mid-October.
There are overnight accommodation possibilities, a reservation (online) in advance is strongly recommended.
