From Bergheim over the Sandkuchl to Winding Gut
An ideal walk for the transitional season with wonderful views of the countryside and the menu at Winding Gut.
In certain weather conditions, the usually less popular asphalt roads are a good alternative to ankle-deep forest paths. Especially when the route describes such an exciting arc from the Roman settlement sites in Kerath to the very cozy country inn Winding Gut. In between, fantastic viewing windows open up to the Berchtesgaden Alps and the lake district, and on clear days the 291 m high Olympic Tower of the city of Munich can even be seen to the northwest. The farm shop at the Holzbauer heir farm sharpens the view again for the nearby and is a reliable address for original souvenirs. For the comfortable return journey to Bergheim, bus 110 runs hourly from Voggenberg town center.

Directions
From the Bergheim local train station, the path leads through the town, passes under the federal road, and runs parallel to the B 156 on the left past the school for 600 m to the Fischach. Now 800 m on the right along the renatured riverbank to the bridge, then over this following path 62 to the site of a Roman country villa in Kerath. Shortly after, the Holzbauernweg branches off to the left to the Holzbauer farm shop. We stay on the slightly uphill path 62, which turns left in the Voggenberg settlement onto the gentle elevation Sandkuchl (615 m) and shortly after reaches the Winding Gut country inn. The short section goes back over the Sandkuchl the same way, or alternatively without elevation along the access road, back to Voggenberg and from there back by bus 110 (Voggenberg town center stop).
