Winding Paths in St. Jakob near Puch

A little discovery journey on wide and winding paths from St. Jakob am Thurn to Vollererhof.

The district of St. Jakob am Thurn lies secluded on a small, sunny plateau above the Salzach valley. In the 1960s, St. Jakob consisted of only eight houses. Since then, a few more have been added, but the village has maintained its charm. A small lake, the eponymous medieval tower, the Schützenwirt, and the former pilgrimage church remain the most important landmarks in this paradise. And of course, recently another station, namely the bus stop of the successful Tennengau Shuttle. With this connection, numerous opportunities for nice walks and hikes open up. In Advent, the romantic Christmas market under the Kaiserlinde adds extra atmosphere. A true insider tip among the many Christmas markets in Salzburg.

Directions

Directly at the Tennengau Shuttle bus stop "Puch Pointweg" begins the marked trail 45 towards Vollererhof. The first section follows, past massive rock blocks, the farm driveway, then the route transitions to a tractor path and after 700 m meets an asphalt road again at the next farm. On this road, you only continue for 100 m, then an unmarked forest path and as an orientation aid, a power line branch off to the left. The line accompanies us through the forest until the first houses appear near Vollererhof. Now the route crosses a meadow and turns left onto the wide farm road (path 11). After the next farm, path 11 again follows the paved, barely frequented driveways towards St. Jakob. At the junction with Thurnbergstraße, however, the route no longer leads to St. Jakob but immediately turns right down to Haslach to the Elsbethen – Haslach stop (bus 160) on the Halleiner Landesstraße.
