Winter trails from Adnet to Oberalm
The delightful winter hike from the marble village of Adnet down into the Salzach Valley passes by numerous, little-known treasures.
The Adnet Moor with its reed beds, meandering streams, and wide plains is a true feast for the eyes even in winter. There is much to discover along the cleared or at least well-trodden paths that otherwise remains hidden: such as sculptures made of snow and metal, a woodpecker’s cave, or the daily open fish shop. In Oberalm, after crossing the Hammer footbridge, the hidden Löwensternpark and the chapel dedicated to St. Francis, established as a private initiative in 2024, enchant visitors. For onward travel, Oberalm offers an excellent train and bus network.

Directions
From the Adnet town center bus stop, the route leads past the church to the start of the experience trail branching off to the right through the Adnet Moor. Shortly after the observation tower, the route first goes right towards Adnet, then immediately follows paths 50 and 53 to the left. Along the Spumbach stream, the path shortly before the Wiestal state road comes to a fork. Either left with a few elevation meters uphill, or continue to the state road and along it on the separate pedestrian and cycle path on the left-hand side to the strikingly green-painted Hammer footbridge. Past the “Gasthaus Zum Hammer” (Hammerwirt) to the next fork and then 200 m along Wiestalstraße to the right until, on the left-hand side after the Lebenshilfe building, the entrance to Löwensternpark opens. After crossing the park, the path leads along Madelgasse through the motorway underpass, then past the forest chapel dedicated to St. Francis and reaches shortly after the town center of Oberalm (bus stop). The station lies 500 m outside on Kahlspergstraße.
