Heinrich Kiener’s house
Temporarily closedRefuge, which is popular with locals and guests alike, surrounded by lush alpine pastures on the Hochgründeck!
The Heinrich-Kienerhaus is located at 1,800 m above sea level, surrounded by alpine pastures on the Hochgründeck, which is one of the highest forested mountains in Europe and the most beautiful panoramic mountains in Austria. Herman Hinterhölzl and his team have been managing his refuge since 1999, after having been the host of the Matrashaus on the Hochkönig for 22 years. It is well known for its overwhelming panoramic views. Across the Salzach Valley with the Hochkönig, Tennengebirge and Berchtesgaden Alps, the Hohe Tauern with the Großglockner, the Dachstein Mountains to the Carinthian peaks, the eye can see over three hundred mountain peaks. The sunrises and sunsets are a special experience here. And when it gets cooler in the evening – or in bad weather – the cozy dining room, which offers space for around 50 people, invites you to a rendezvous.
And of course you can also spend the night in the Heinrich Kiener House!
