National Park Hohe Tauern: “Emeralds and Crystals”
Temporarily closedVisitors can marvel at a true treasure trove of the Hohe Tauern, as this exhibition displays beautiful crystal treasures that are known for their rarity and uniqueness. In addition to a wide variety of gemstones, you can also visit the “Man and Culture” exhibition.
This exhibition is a real treasure trove in the Hohe Tauern. The area that is now the National Park has been known for its crystal treasures since time immemorial, and many particularly beautiful pieces can be seen here.
The province of Salzburg is characterized by a particularly large variety of minerals – due to a complex geological situation. Emeralds, rock crystals, fluorites, titanites, adularites, epidotes – there are many different minerals in a small area. The minerals were and are formed in complicated processes over a period of millions of years in so-called disruption fissures (rock crystal, adular, fluorite, …), or are formed in the rock (emerald, pyrite, actinolite, …). The minerals reach the earth’s surface through erosion processes.
Take your time and immerse yourself in the world of minerals and learn more about the tradition of the “Stoasuacher”.
The National Park exhibition “Emeralds & Crystals” is located in the basement of the Bramberg Museum.
