From Dientner Sattel via Schneeberg to Mühlbach

Face to face with its majesty, the rocky Hochkönig (2,941 m), you can enjoy wonderfully relaxed hiking opposite on the alpine pastures of the Dientner Grasberge.

On one side the Hochkönig, on the other side the Tauern, in between the Dientner Grasberge with their highly enjoyable hiking destinations shaped by alpine farming. One of these is the Schneeberg (1,939 m), comfortably reachable in 2.5 hours thanks to the good hiking bus connection from the high-altitude Dientner Sattel stop. At the summit, the visitor frequency of this otherwise quite lonely route will increase somewhat, as the Schneeberg is also a popular destination for many summer guests who come up with the Karbachbahn from Mühlbach.

Directions

From the Dientner Sattel Birgkarhaus stop, path 75 passes the Dientalm slightly below and follows the farm road for 45 minutes to the Tiergartenalm. Directly afterwards, the route slightly descends to the left to the nearby Klingelbergalm. The wide alpine path now becomes a trail, crossing three smaller ravines and then leading up over a cotton grass-covered marshy area to the sunny western ridge towards Schneeberg (path 15). From the panoramic summit (1,939 m), path 15 leads through a gentle depression to the northeastward outcrop with the second Schneeberg cross (1,921 m) and then follows the descent to Karbachalm (1,562 m). From here either take the gondola in a few minutes or continue on path 15 in 2 hours to the valley station of the Karbachbahn. The bus stop is located diagonally opposite on the B 164.
