From Gaißau via Ladenbergalm to Hintersee

The Tennengau shuttle makes it possible: a small crossing of the Osterhorn group without many altitude meters.

The Tennengau shuttle runs from central boarding points right into the remote valleys. This route selection is, of course, very convenient for hikers, sparing them unnecessary road kilometers. For ski tourers, the line bus 450 is already a great introduction, which runs hourly from Hallein station to the valley station of the abandoned ski lift Gaißau – Hintersee. The Tennengau shuttle takes you one level or 200 altitude meters further uphill and offers an ideal starting point at the final station Gaißau Hermannsreit for a beautiful crossing to the village of Hintersee. From there, the connection to Faistenau and further to the central area is also excellent.

Directions

From the Gaißau Hermannsreit stop, the route continues for 20 minutes along the farm driveway to Lasserbauer, then turns left onto the shortcut path towards Ladenbergalm and 20 minutes later turns right onto the forest road (path 77). Passing the Looswald hut, path 77 turns left at the next fork and reaches a wonderful viewpoint 10 minutes later with views over the huts of Ladenbergalm. From there the path descends and then turns right onto the trail. This leads over 100 altitude meters through sparse forest onto a forest road and follows it for 300 m to the junction of the old alpine path to the left. Along the Labenbach and its many bizarre waterfalls, the cool descent goes down to Satzstein in 45 minutes, a huge overhanging boulder transported here by glacier streams from the last ice age. From the parking lot, you either go right past the Joseph Mohr chapel or straight ahead along the 1 km long driveway into the village of Hintersee to the town centre bus stop.
