From Golling via Kellau to Kuchl
A sunny, all-weather suitable walk leads through the charming rural cultural landscape between Golling and Kuchl.
This time, the high mountain peaks remain far away on the other side of the Salzach valley. The Göll massif or the Hagen mountains are a nice framing of the valley hike between the markets of Golling and Kuchl, but the main focus this time is on the large and small natural and cultural monuments along the route. Outstanding among these are the ancient farms in Kellau. The most beautiful of them is the Vorderrußegg farm, which alone already tells many stories when looking at the facade with the painted Filzmooser child. If you are lucky enough that the old farmer’s wife is sitting on the bench in front of this listed jewel, the old Tennengau single farm and its stories become even more vivid. So, keep your eyes and ears open on this little adventure hike.

From Golling-Abtenau station, a few meters to the right (south) on Bahnhofstraße, then left up the sidewalk into the center, there right and after 200 m left into Trögergasse. Follow path 26 past Egelsee and along the forest edge, or finally uphill over a meadow, to the former snack station St. Anton. Through the beer garden decorated with stone sculptures, then downhill along the driveway to a fork. There, left past Schubertplatz, which was established in memory of the composer who wandered past here, at the next fork turn right along path 21 (Georgenberg) along the eastern valley edge towards Kellau. Continue on path 21 (Rußeggweg) into the district of Strubau, then a short left along the street and then follow the bike path signs towards Kuchl on Schwandkramerweg to the right. The interesting Georgenberg is immediately visible on the right – a detour there is always worthwhile and easily possible – but the shortest way to Kuchl branches left onto Georgenbergstraße. At the junction with the pedestrian and cycle path along the federal highway, the first entry option is at the Kuchl Seppenbauer stop (bus 170), or otherwise 200 m further into the town center and via Marktstraße to the station.        Â

By train to Golling-Abtenau station, or by bus 170 from Salzburg main station (Südtiroler Platz) and by bus 470 from Hallein station (west side) to Golling - Lower Market. Return from Kuchl station, or by bus 470 from the Kuchl Seppenbauer stop.Â
