Onto Bleckwand high above Strobl on Wolfgangsee
The hike to the idyllic Bleckwand, the local mountain of Strobl on Wolfgangsee, is mainly known for the “window” in the mountain with a view of Wolfgangsee. The route is also a highlight because of the enchanting surroundings and is wonderful for hiking with families.
We start the hike in the Gweschendt district and follow the signposts towards the Bleckwand hut and Bleckwand. The hiking trails mainly lead us through forest or over meadows. Good footwear is strongly recommended, as the path can be steep at times and repeatedly passes over root-strewn ground. At the beginning, the path is not very exciting, but the ascent is worth it, because as soon as the forest clears, you catch the first glimpses of the turquoise sparkling lake and the amazing Salzkammergut summit experience comes within reach.
When reaching the Bleckwand hut, it is only about a 30-minute walk to the summit ridge. From here, you have a wonderful view of Wolfgangsee and the Schafberg rising behind it. The Bleckwand hut offers the perfect place to stop and recharge with a great view of Wolfgangsee. The hike is possible with children but not suitable for strollers.
