The Glücksweg 113 from Schönfeld to Bundschuh – Thomatal.
Almost like flying: The magnificent high route 113 leads through the landscape and mountain lake paradise in the Lungau Nockberge.
A route in the Nockberge is a guarantee for enjoyable high-altitude hiking over gentle, seemingly endlessly wide grassy domes. One summit follows another; in between, the best alpine pastures spread out and to complete the idyll, many small lakes are embedded. If fitness and day length are sufficient, it would be possible to hike endlessly with these conditions. The bus service once again provides the best conditions as the last stop in Schönfeld before the Dr. Josef Mehrl Hut is located at a comfortable 1,730 m above sea level, while the 16-kilometer distant endpoint at the Blast Furnace Museum in Bundschuh is 300 meters lower. Ideally, arrival is with the first and return with the last bus, with just under nine hours in between, which is a sufficient time window. The blast furnace and Schönfeld are closely linked anyway, as the smelting furnace processed iron ore from the Schönfeld mines into high-quality products. Even today, the old facilities around the Blast Furnace Museum offer vivid insights.

Directions
From the last bus stop in Schönfeld, the route passes the Dr.-Mehrl-Hut (open mid-May to end of September) and then follows left turning the path 113 up to Matehanshöhe (2,086 m). Only this first section over 350 meters in altitude is steep; then it goes gently up and down over Zechner Höhe (2,188 m), Gaipahöhe (2,192 m), Kameritzhöhe (2,167 m), and Gmeinnock (2,122 m) past many small and medium-sized lakes to the highest point Schwarzwand (2,214 m). The distant view has long since extended around the Hohe Tauern, with the particularly striking, glacier-covered Hochalmspitze. There are also many bathing possibilities, especially with the larger Anderlsee. The Schwarzwand is almost completely flat, no cliff in sight, but the summit structure strongly resembles the blast furnace tower at the end of the route. Before that, there is the descent to the picturesque Laussnitzsee (2,001 m) and, as a special treat, a stop at the very cozy Laussnitzer Hut (exact opening times at www.laussnitzer.at or +43 (0)664 63 17 175). The last nearly two-hour section leads down into the ravine and then follows the Blareitbach to the right.
