Tilly’s Forest Trail is a lovingly designed adventure hiking trail in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park and offers the ideal combination of nature experience, adventure, and child-friendly learning. Over a distance of about 2.5 kilometers with 300 meters elevation, young and old hiking friends playfully discover the fascinating animal and plant world of the Austrian Alps. The hike from the Hochalmbahn mountain station to the middle station is a varied nature experience for the whole family. Right at the start, the idyllic barefoot path with a pond invites you to refresh yourself – perfect for taking off your hiking boots briefly and awakening the senses. From there, the path begins, winding through shady forests and sunny alpine meadows, repeatedly offering impressive views of the surrounding mountain world. Along the way, there is plenty to experience for little explorers: exciting hiking pass stations provide entertainment and playfully promote an understanding of nature. Additionally, lovingly designed information boards convey interesting facts about the local animal and plant life – from alpine flowers to elusive forest dwellers. The route is easily walkable and ideal for families who want to be active together while enjoying the beauty of the Hohe Tauern. At the end, the middle station of the Hochalmbahn awaits with further attractions such as gold and mineral washing. An all-round successful excursion that combines hiking, learning, and marveling.
