Fairy Tale Trail in Faistenau to the Hatznalm

This hike is an absolute insider tip for families: On the varied fairy tale trail, you’ll reach a nice and child-friendly hut with a large playground.

The hike leads from Tiefbrunnau along the Schafbach up towards the Faistenauer Schafberg. Along the way, there are a total of 10 signs placed at shorter, regular intervals that tell the story of a dwarf. This continuously fuels your children’s motivation to hike, as there is something to discover at each station. Once at the top, the best plan is to enjoy a tasty snack or pastry at the Hatznalm. While the children use the large and beautiful playground, the parents can enjoy the soothing peace and lovingly designed atmosphere of the hut.

Directions

You can reach the Hatznalm by two routes. Either via the forest road or via the fairy tale trail. Both routes are well signposted and impossible to miss. The best option is to choose the fairy tale trail for the ascent and optionally the forest road for the way back. At first, it starts off a bit steeper, but the path soon becomes flatter and more pleasant. The paths are well maintained.
