Dairy and Alpine Farming in the Riedingtal
With regional bus 270 you travel through the Lungau, internationally recognized for its biodiversity. One of the most beautiful historic farms in the Lungau invites you to take a quick visit to rural life of earlier days. In Zederhaus, the Maurerhaus, a Lungau single farm from the Middle Ages, offers fascinating insights into the sparse rural life of the population. The kitchen with an oven served as a common room for the farmers and servants. A separate smoke kitchen, the simple sleeping rooms of the maids and farmhands, as well as a passage to the stable are particularly well preserved. Unique are the historic mill, the grain store, and a stamp mill. The stamp mill was used to produce linseed oil. Old tools such as plows, harrows, and tractors open the door to an almost forgotten era. Only the hard work belongs to the past now. Instead, pleasure has entered the single farm museum. Throughout the year there are festivals, exhibitions, and various events. Learning to bind Prangstangen (festival poles) is accommodated there, as well as flower wreath binding. The Prangstangen are carried at church festivals in spring and subsequently placed in the church. Attention photographers: at the Kodak History Museum in the Zederhaus municipal office, enthusiasts can find historic cameras and film equipment spanning about 110 years!

The walking path from the Zederhaus Sportplatz stop to the Maurergut is about 20 minutes. From the Riedingtal toll station – via an easy path you reach the many alpine pastures.

Regional bus 270 takes you directly to Zederhaus. At the Sportplatz stop, transfer to regional bus 772, which stops at Denkmalhof and the Riedingtal toll station.
