Ski tour on the Buchberg in Goldegg

SIZE ALONE IS NOT EVERYTHING: THE SMALL, FAMILY-FRIENDLY SKI AREA BUCHBERG IN GOLDEGG IS A (AVALANCHE-) SAFE ADDRESS FOR ALL SKI TOURING ENTHUSIASTS.

The large ski areas in the Dientner Grasbergen between Mühlbach and Maria Alm cannot compete with the small Buchberg (1,232 m) in Goldegg, but it certainly offers the prospect of happy skiing experiences. The manageable piste offer (5 km) in the sheltered location on the Goldegg sun terrace is primarily aimed at families, ski beginners, and ski tourers. For this rapidly growing group, an ascent with two variants has been signposted: either along the piste or more leisurely and 400 meters longer through the forest. For the athletically ambitious public transport users, there is an additional option: under suitable conditions, they could choose an out-of-service, unprepared piste on the north side for the descent and return to Goldegg by bus 580 from the nearby Goldegg Kleinrohrer stop, coming from Böndlsee. However, the descent on the perfectly groomed slopes is undoubtedly more comfortable and safer.

Directions

The starting point is the Goldegg Buchberglift stop in the Altenhof district, served by a minibus (line 582) from the Goldegg Schloss stop. After purchasing the ski tourer daily ticket (5 euros), you proceed with skins on skis past the bottom station of the drag lift on the right to the slightly higher children’s lift. There begins the signposted ski tour ascent, which initially runs 400 meters to the left along the family slope before it forks. The fast ascent (black sign) stays along the pistes, while the blue signposted pleasure ascent branches off diagonally to the right, crosses the wide piste and the farm meadows, then enters the beautiful high forest. At the forested summit before the summit cross, the variants meet again. The summit lift does not always operate; as a service for ski tourers, the descent is, however, groomed.
