Cross-country skiing in the cross-country paradise Faistenau
The cross-country skiing village Faistenau lies in a quiet side valley only 20 km from Salzburg, surrounded by peaks of the Osterhorn group. 60 km of always top-prepared classic and skating trails await us. Enduring cross-country skiers can glide the entire route to Tiefbrunnau and relax in the beautiful, peaceful nature. In Tiefbrunnau we can stop after about half the distance at the Loipenstüberl and refresh ourselves. If needed, we could also take the bus back from here. Ski tourers can already take a close look at the surrounding peaks, all of which are wonderful destinations with sufficient snow cover.
Beginners start best in Tiefbrunnau, where the trails are flatter. For a sporty round in between, the rounds not listed here in Faistenau are also suitable; the village trail as well as the Kugelberg trail. The latter is illuminated in the evenings. And the best part, the buses 150/155/157 take us there free of charge during the winter sports season. Right next to the Faistenau school bus stop there are heated changing cabins, toilets, showers, and lockers.

Directions
The route is continuously groomed and signposted; the exact course depends on snow conditions. Between Lohstraße and Hinterseestraße do not follow the village trail further but turn towards Tiefbrunnau.

By public transport
By bus 155 from Mon-Sat every 30 min, Sundays hourly to Faistenau school. If needed, Tiefbrunnau can be reached hourly from there by bus 157. For example, Tiefbrunnau kindergarten as the start of the flatter trail. The bus is free during the winter sports season; just tell the bus driver that you are cross-country skiing in Faistenau (this should also be visible), then you will receive a free replacement ticket.
