Active playground hike at Prinzenberg near Maria Alm
The so-called “Prinzenberg”, the Natrun, is the local mountain of Maria Alm at Hochkönig. Here you will find a true adventure summit for children and families: brilliant playgrounds, the world’s best Kaiserschmarrn, and a slide paradise.
Directly in Maria Alm, first take the gondola of the Natrunbahn up to the Prinzenberg at a relaxed pace. At the mountain station, the first alpine hut awaits you with a great playground, cozy loungers, and wonderful views. From here, you can either walk through the forest or along the stroller-friendly forest path to Prinzensee. Here, you can dip your feet in the clear water, enjoy the magnificent 360° view, or splash a bit along the shore.
After a short break, continue hiking towards the castle playground and the Grammlergut snack station. After another 15-20 minutes of hiking, both parents and children will find everything their hearts desire here. A huge adventure playground with several slides, marble runs, diggers, and more is available next to the Grammlergut – with its cozy guest garden.
From here, it’s about a 20-minute walk back to the mountain station. We recommend skipping the gondola descent and instead hiking down through the forest slide park. Completely free of charge, you can slide down with great momentum and fun over a total of 5 stainless steel slides down to Postalm. Now it is just a short section along the forest road back to the starting point.
