Step into the world of the miners at Leogang Show Mine and explore narrow tunnels, centuries of mining history and a memorable nature experience in the Schwarzleo Valley.

At Leogang Show Mine, you can follow in the footsteps of former miners and experience just how demanding life and work underground once were. Set in the beautiful Schwarzleo Valley, this historic site is one of the oldest mines in SalzburgerLand and combines fascinating history with an impressive natural setting.

From the 15th century onwards, valuable resources such as silver, copper, lead, nickel and cobalt were mined here. Today, the Barbara adit has been preserved as part of this former mining area and can be visited on a guided tour. You explore the hand-cut tunnels on foot – sometimes slightly bent over and walking in single file. This makes the visit especially authentic, giving you a real sense of the cramped and challenging working conditions miners once faced.

Knowledgeable guides lead you through the branching tunnel system, past shafts, stairways and traces of historic ore extraction. The area around the mine also makes it a rewarding destination for families, with children’s tours, an adventure playground, a traditional ore crushing site by the stream and refreshments at the miners’ inn. All together, Leogang Show Mine offers a vivid mix of history, nature and adventure.
