Step into the past at the Bramberg Museum and discover the history of the Pinzgau region – from sparkling emeralds and crystals to traditional rural life and historic mining.

At the Bramberg Museum you can explore the natural treasures and cultural history of the Pinzgau region in a unique setting. The museum is housed in the historic Wilhelmgut, one of the oldest buildings in Bramberg, where traditional folk culture meets the fascinating world of minerals.

Inside the historic farmhouse you will discover how people once lived and worked in the Alps. Carefully preserved rooms, traditional furniture and everyday objects give insight into rural life in earlier centuries. The original “Schönkammer”, a beautifully panelled room made of Swiss pine wood, offers a particularly authentic glimpse into the past. Exhibits also explore alpine farming, village life and local traditions.

Below ground, the modern National Park exhibition “Emeralds and Crystals” reveals the geological treasures of the Hohe Tauern mountains. Here you can admire sparkling rock crystals, rare emeralds from the Habachtal valley and many other remarkable minerals. Models, films and displays explain how these natural treasures formed over millions of years and how they are discovered by collectors.

Another part of the museum focuses on the region’s historic mining tradition. Original tools, reconstructed mine tunnels and detailed displays illustrate the demanding and often dangerous work of the miners.

Outside, the open-air area features several historic buildings such as mills, huts and traditional farm structures, offering further insight into everyday life and craftsmanship in the Pinzgau of earlier times.
