Museum Vogtturm
Temporarily closedSet in a medieval tower, the museum tells the story of Zell am See from its early beginnings to today.
Located in the heart of Zell am See, the Vogtturm is a striking medieval tower that now houses a modern museum dedicated to the town’s history, culture and creativity. Within its historic walls, a varied exhibition brings the story of the region to life in an engaging and accessible way.
The interactive permanent exhibition “Mythos Zell am See” takes you from the earliest traces of human settlement through to the present day. Highlights include remarkable artefacts such as a 3,000-year-old bronze sword, objects recovered from Lake Zell and impressive paintings. Themed spaces like the Settlement Room, Treasure Chamber and Inventors’ Workshop offer different perspectives on local history and innovation. Interactive stations and multimedia elements make the experience especially enjoyable for families. Whether trying out a virtual fishing game, exploring traditional customs or learning about the rise of tourism, the exhibition combines knowledge with hands-on discovery.
Following a comprehensive redesign, the Vogtturm now presents itself as a vibrant place of learning and encounter, where past and present are seamlessly connected.
