On the summit of one of the highest grass mountains in Europe, the Hundstein, where nothing more obscures the panoramic view, high up there is the Statzerhaus.

The Statzerhaus of the ÖTK (Austrian Tourist Club) is enthroned on the summit of the Hundstein. The Hundstein can be climbed from all directions. Almost every one of the countless ascents leads over long, rather flat ridges in the last section. Although the hiking routes can be classified as easy throughout, they are usually quite extensive, which is reflected in the trail times.
The Statzerhaus is famous not only for its good bratl and the dreamlike sunrises and sunsets, but above all for the famous Jakobiranggeln in the nature arena below the Statzerhaus. This takes place every year on the Sunday after Jakobi (25 July). The so-called “Hundstoa-Ranggeln” begins at 10.00 a.m. with a mountain mass and takes place in all weathers. This is a tradition!
Please note that it is not possible to stay overnight with a dog at the Statzerhaus!
