WHO ENTERS HELLBRUNN IS IMMEDIATELY CAPTIVATED BY THE MAGIC OF THIS WONDERFUL WORLD. A FAMILY-FRIENDLY WALK FOR EVERY SEASON.
Hellbrunn is pure joy. That must have been the brief of the builder Markus Sittikus (1574 – 1619) to his ingenious designers, above all Solari and Mascagni. The result, with the water features, the huge park area, and the palace, is truly a place to marvel at and fall in love with. However, the site has not fallen into a fairy-tale sleep; the offerings are being carefully expanded. Besides the well-known zoo, there is a playground with a huge picnic meadow, water features for everyone, or in winter, cross-country ski trails and a small, natural ice rink. Everyone finds their place and is guaranteed something new, never seen before. In the Hellbrunner Allee, the three manor houses Emslieb, Emsburg, and Frohnburg draw attention; these were inhabited by favorites in the circle of Prince Archbishop Markus Sittikus. Probably the most interesting castle for children is located at the end of the palace walk, on the wonderfully spacious playground on Frohnburgweg.      Â

Directions
The starting point is the bus stop Anif Mühle, from which the route continues 100 meters along Alpenstraße to the Mühleweg junction (right). The Steinbock coat of arms of Markus Sittikus is attached to the old castle wall. We owe this wonderfully designed Hellbrunn site to this creatively inclined Prince Archbishop. Mühleistraße leads gently uphill in a curve; then a larch-lined footpath branches sharply right. It leads into the palace park, and under the zoo bridge the path continues in a right curve. A new festival hall in an architecturally striking snail shape was planned here 100 years ago. Where the rhino enclosure is today, festival guests were expected to stroll. The sunny path leads along ancient oaks to a playground that is sure to make all children’s hearts beat faster. Our route leads through the main entrance into Hellbrunner Allee. Some trees date from the first generation 400 years ago, and the castles Emslieb, Emsburg, and Frohnburg were also built at this time. After 1.5 kilometers in the alley, near Schloss Frohnburg, our route turns right and passes another imaginative playground, then follows Frohnburgweg to Alpenstraße. The bus stop is a few meters further to the right.
