From Hintersee Lämmerbach to the Hochwieskopf
The ski routes starting from Hintersee Lämmerbach are known beyond the state border and enjoy enormous popularity: This route led us to one of the most remote destinations around the Genneralm, the Hochwieskopf.
The early bird catches the worm: This applies to this route not only because of its length, but also due to the limited parking availability in Lämmerbach. But don’t worry, there is a solution in the form of public transport, so nothing stands in the way of an extended day of touring in the Osterhorn group. It is best to inform yourself about “your best connection” on the homepage of the Salzburg transport association at www.salzburg-verkehr.at or directly via the Salzburg Verkehr app.

Directions
We start the route at the Hintersee Lämmerbach stop and can immediately put on the ski touring skis. It goes moderately along the forest road towards Genneralm, before you have the option to take the forest trail (turn left, a track is always present) or continue the ascent along the road. It doesn’t take long until you reach the wide plateau of the Genneralm and are already rewarded here with numerous great impressions for the sweat beads earned so far. On the right side rises the steep flank of the Gennerhorn, which should only be climbed under safe conditions, and on the left side comes into view one of the classic routes in this area, the Hohe Zinken. Up to here, you are definitely not alone, but soon we will be able to enjoy a bit more peace. If you look straight ahead when you reach the mountain rescue hut, you can already see in the distance our destination, the Hochwieskopf (1754 m). The Hochwieskopf rises prominently in the south, with its wall steeply falling to the east. It is definitely recommended now to pack the skins back into the backpack to properly enjoy the short descent, initially in open terrain and then through the forest, into the Ackersbach valley. Afterwards you cross a stream, climbing again over a treeless slope onto the ridge and the moderately steep forest to the Hochwiesalm. From here, our ascent leads along the from the start wide Hochwies ridge towards the summit. At the end, it gets a bit narrower and more technical, as we reach the summit on the west slope which is a bit steeper. At the summit, we are rewarded with a fantastic panorama into the entire Osterhorn group and beyond, and can really enjoy the silence. The descent mostly follows the ascent route and after the counter climb leads back down to the parking lot in a proven manner.
