From Obergnigl via the Heuberg to Guggenthal

Traveling on quiet routes in a favorite hiking area of the city residents of Salzburg.

Due to its proximity to the city, sunny orientation and good accessibility, the Heuberg has developed into a popular hiking area. Different length walks are possible all year round. However, the suggested route is somewhat off the usual standard paths, at least snow- and ice-free conditions would be favorable for this little insider tip. There are several places to marvel and linger, especially the view of the Salzburg basin which is breathtakingly beautiful. The beauty is also the focus at the end point of the hike, the newly constructed, architecturally striking Biogena headquarters. Right in front is the Koppl Gruberfeldsiedlung bus stop for the return journey.

Directions

The starting point is the trolleybus turning point of line 2 in Obergnigl. Always worth a visit is the immediately adjacent Minnesheimpark below, with the charming Graces representing the four seasons. Our path then crosses Federal Road B 158, immediately afterwards the Alterbach, and then turns left into Weingartenstraße. At the end of this dead-end street begins a forest path leading to a farmhouse, which is bypassed on the left above, and then follows the tractor path across the meadow to the "Hotel Schöne Aussicht". Along the access road, the route continues to a fork, turns left onto Mettigweg, and a kilometer later to the right onto Kramlehenweg. After crossing the shady ravine, the path continues again on the sunny side. After another kilometer on the paved access road, a steep path (sign Weg 76) turns right into the Alterbachgraben and reaches after a short uphill section the extravagant Biogena building, or the bus stop opposite it.
