A SUMMIT CROSS WITH A SPECIAL INSCRIPTION
„Lord, home is beautiful!“ The inscription on the crossbeam of the summit cross speaks of deep gratitude and firm conviction. It is therefore worth visiting the 1,769-meter-high Rossbrand, the local mountain of Radstadt, and seeing for yourself the view that inspired the nameless carver to create his work. In the Radstadt Bürgerbergweg, a large gentian sign marks the entry to hiking trail number 462, which leads towards the summit. If the three-hour ascent is too much all at once: after the first third of the trail, the Bürgerbergalm provides a good reason to rest. Refreshed, you then follow the signposts through the shady forest uphill. And then you realize that the woodcarver did not promise too much. The 360° panoramic view from the highest point of the Rossbrand was worth every effort. Over 150 Alpine summits – Hochkönig, Dachstein, Bischofsmütze, Großglockner, Großvenediger, and many more – ensure that this mountain tour is certainly not forgotten so quickly. How beautiful home is – and its culinary delights! Those who want to follow the impressive view with insights into local cuisine take hiking trail 461 on the descent and pay a visit to the Berggasthof Rohrmoos. The restaurant is known for freshly caught trout and game specialties from its own hunting.

Use the post office as a starting point, follow Loretostraße and Bürgerbergstraße to the junction with Bürgerbergweg. From there, hiking trail number 462 is signposted.
