From Wallersee to Obertrumersee
THE GENTLE HIKING REGION IS FULL OF SURPRISES: THE BREATHTAKING TIEFSTEINKLAMM, THE SCENIC BUCHBERG, NOBLE MUSHROOMS FROM SCHLEEDORF, AND FOOTBALL GOLF IN OBERTRUM.
It was precisely the glaciers of the Ice Age that created such a wonderful summer holiday region. The gigantic ice masses are responsible for the gentle scouring in which today the most beautiful lakes of Flachgau have spread out. These also include the small Egelseen, past which our route leads. They are less a bathing spot and more a particularly protected bird sanctuary. Another relic from the Ice Age also causes great amazement. Who would expect such an impressive gorge as the one formed shortly before Schleedorf in the Ice Age moraine deposits? Not only beautiful to look at but also practical: the church in Schleedorf was built from the conglomerate rock of the Tiefsteinklamm. Schleedorf is a show village. In the church are valuable wood carvings by Meinrad Guggenbichler (1649–1723), in the puppet window diagonally opposite 60, clay figures dressed by the Wimmer tailor shop made by Otto Beck, and just outside, the tasty Stoff’n organic mushrooms. Then an Alpine highlight from the Buchberg (801 m), before the hike ends with an (un)relaxing round of football golf at the Mattsee Außerhof bus stop.

Directions
The starting point is the Köstendorf – Weng train stop. Initially still without signposts, go through the railway underpass, then turn right past the EZA building over the Eisbach and along it on the right to the Palfinger crane plant. Now ascend over the state road, past the Fischach mill, 1 km to the left turn to the Tiefsteinklamm. After the “secret” quarter-hour detour in the gorge, return to the road and along it past the sports field to Schleedorf. After visiting the village, cross the Köstendorf state road, continue on the separated footpath for 400 m to the “Schleedorf village end” sign, then turn left past the “pantry” to the Stoff'n mushroom farm. Following the signpost, diagonally right down to the Egelseen, then across the meadow to the isolated oak and right up towards Buchberg (“Wildgemüseweg M 3”). After joining a driveway, turn left to the Alpenblick guesthouse and from there right to the lookout tower on Buchberg. From the playground plateau located slightly below, go left on path M 3 (“Mattsee via Römersberg”) to the driveway, but shortly after the Singerbründl leave path M 3 and turn sharply left past a wooden sculpture to Hof Singer. Then left again for 1 km to Bodenstatt and from there right down over Außerhof to the state road. Below the Mattsee – Außerhof stop is the original football golf course.
