Easy well-marked piste ski tour in the Tennengebirge. Good for beginners or for a quick tour in between. The ski area warmly welcomes ski tourers. Wonderful views of the Osterhorn group and beautiful insights into the high surrounding mountains in the Tennengebirge. Maybe you can discover the Frauenloch? A large hole into which, according to legend, stingy women from Abtenau were banished by a mountain spirit.

The Abtenau Karkogel bus stop is located directly at the valley station of the Karkogelbahn. After purchasing a ski tour ticket for 7 euros (as of 2023/2024), ascend the well-marked and fenced ski route 7 to the right of the cable car. Pass the Kohlhof, then climb a little steeper towards the Karkogel hut. Once there, it is definitely worthwhile from a scenic point of view to continue on the only very gently ascending pull path up to the drag lift. Shortly afterwards, at the snowmaking pond, the tour ends. Opening hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Thursday & Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

By bus or train to Hallein station or Golling-Abtenau station. With bus 470 (or bus 471 from "Golling-Abtenau station") to Abtenau town center. 15 min (1 km) walking distance to the starting point Karkogelbahn.Â
