Have you always wanted to sit at the declared favorite spot of ski legend Hermann Maier? The cozy hiking trail there starts just behind the Marbachtal parking lot in Flachauwinkl. So you can’t miss the roughly handcrafted wooden bench, a shiny sign on the backrest points to Flachau’s sporty son. Enjoy the view before you head on again. We are not yet at the destination. Our approximately 6.5-kilometer route takes us to both Marbachalms and back again. The rugged rocks of the Radstädter Tauern and the crystal-clear water of the eponymous Marbach provide a picture-book backdrop for the rest of the trail. Taking a stroller to an alpine hut? Luckily, the path is so easy to manage that even the youngest mountain fans arrive with relaxed parents. In other words: the alpine area around the Vorder and Hinter Marbachalm is a paradise for young families. It goes without saying that the guests’ physical well-being must not be neglected. Both the Prechtlhütte and the Ennslehenhütte are continuously operated from Pentecost to early October. Food lovers take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on cheese, bacon, bread, and butter directly from the farmer.
