The Zistelrunde

VIEW PROMENADE HIGH & ABOVE THE CITY OF SALZBURG

Are you in the mood for a short walk in the green? Then the so-called Zistelrunde on the Gaisberg is the perfect choice. The start and finish point is the guesthouse Zistelalm, located 1,001 meters high, the “sun terrace of the people of Salzburg”, with its fabulous view of the legendary Untersberg. The question remains: Would you like to refresh yourself first or tackle the approximately 2.5-kilometer route right away before settling down at one of the cozy wooden tables? If you’re in the mood to slow down, you can linger and enjoy the unique mountain panorama all around. Benches along the way invite you to take a break with views of peaks such as the Watzmann, the Hoher Göll, the Hochthron, and the Hochstaufen. Those who have enough stamina can use a detour to the Gaisberg summit and reach the peak experience after 150 meters of elevation gain and about half an hour of walking time. Most of the walk leads along a wide gravel path, which is also ideal for winter hikes and strollers. At the end or start of the circular route, there is a great wooden playground for children, guaranteed to let them let off steam!
