Unken – Gateway to Pinzgau
COUNTRYSIDE LIFE, HOAGASCHT AND ALPINE LITERATURE
Whether in summer or winter: Unken, the picturesque small community in Pinzgau, is always worth a visit. Hiking, climbing, mountaineering, mountain biking, rafting, or cross-country skiing – if you enjoy spending time outdoors, you will definitely find everything you need here. Untouched landscapes, deep forests, and mountain panoramas like from a picture book ensure that your eyes will never tire. But most importantly: you can also experience culture and cuisine in Unken. The rustic Kalchofengut is a gateway to another time. The typical Tyrolean-Salzburg farmhouse from the 16th century is today a regional museum offering a wide range of events and activities: films about traditions, Hoagascht, alpine literature, and drawings of Pinzgau farms. Book presentations, special exhibitions, and cooking events in the traditional smoke kitchen. Nearly every item here is an exhibit. Let yourself drift through the rooms and discover painted farm cupboards, holy sculptures, and photos from earlier times. You can even get married at Kalchofengut. For the wedding, the civil registry officers come to the cozy room in the homestead.
