Step into the world of the Celts and discover reconstructed houses, ancient crafts and prehistoric life at Stoanabichl.

The Celtic Village of Stoanabichl in Uttendorf takes you to a remarkable place where Celtic history becomes tangible. Set at around 1,000 metres above sea level, this naturally protected hilltop not only offers far-reaching views across the Upper and Central Pinzgau, but also a fascinating journey into the past.

This archaeological site is especially significant because several key aspects of Celtic life can be traced in one place: settlement, burial ground, mining and ancient trade routes. Its history reaches back even further, with evidence of continuous settlement from the Early Bronze Age right through to Late Antiquity. In the reconstructed village, you gain a vivid impression of everyday life in prehistoric times. The site includes a dwelling house, weaving house, storage building, smelting area for copper and iron, and a pottery workshop with kiln. Since 2023, a watchtower has added another striking feature to the experience. Together, these elements create an authentic picture of craft, survival and community life.

What makes the village especially engaging is the way it brings history to life. Guided tours and multilingual audio guides offer an accessible and memorable insight into the world of the Celts, making it a rewarding visit for both adults and children.
